Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team followed a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the quick descending corner leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
